The BioAg Alliance

Our collaboration with Novozymes aims to meet on-farm needs today and in the future. It focuses on developing biological products that can complement or replace traditional methods of plant production and protection. Biological products, microbials in particular, offer real benefits such as improving nutrient uptake, promoting growth and yield, and providing insect control and disease protection.

The BioAg Alliance combines Novozymes’ industry-leading expertise in the discovery, formulation, and fermentation of microbes with our extensive field testing experience, precision data science, understanding of the challenges of crop production, and established commercial distribution network.

BioDirect Technology

Using our understanding of pest and plant genomes, we’re able to precisely focus our efforts on developing products derived from a natural process to protect plants and beneficial species from pests and disease.

We are working to develop products under a BioDirect technology umbrella that is derived from a process called ribonucleic acid (RNA) interference, or RNAi, to manage the production of a specific protein in its target. RNAi is a natural process cells use to turn down, or suppress the activity of specific genes. The accuracy and specificity of this biological solution is expected to help protect crops from insects, disease, and weeds, while sustaining an environment that supports beneficial insects and wildlife. The technology is also expected to help protect honey bees from the Varroa destructor mite, the primary threat to hive health and survival.
