From pollinators to plants, to the nearly invisible inhabitants living in the soil, we’re using the latest science to help them flourish. This is leading us to solutions that help protect honey bees, software that helps conserve soil nutrients, and high-yielding seeds that help preserve resources. Each product is developed with a desire to improve both the effectiveness of agriculture and wellbeing of our ecosystem.

BioDirectTM Technology: Bee Health Varroa Mite Control*

Varroa mites can be found in almost any bee hive in the U.S., and are a significant threat to bee health. Beekeepers face an additional challenge as Varroa have developed resistance to many pesticides used to control the population. This project has the potential to provide beekeepers an alternative solution to control Varroa and improve bee health and hive survival.

Growers are looking for ways to manage environmental variables such as weather, weeds and bugs. This project has the potential to minimize yield loss to support sustainable production in managing these difficult challenges in the field.

Brilliant White Cauliflower

Often, cauliflower heads are discolored by the sunlight, requiring farmers to cover the heads in the field. Brilliant White Cauliflower is designed to resist discoloration, which has the potential to eliminate the need to cover the heads and reduce harvest loss. The product also offers the potential for an improved shelf life, and better looking cauliflower may result in less food waste.

We are working to provide farmers with detailed, customized insights for management decisions around plant nutrition and fertility. Our research is focused in two primary areas: expanding the scope of our fertility management tools to include other inputs beyond nitrogen, and support additional new crops.

Measurement Tools and Sensors

Access to data can help farmers make better decisions about their farming practices and use resources and land more efficiently. We are developing an in-field sensor network will provide more frequent measurements from the field to farmers to help with the important decisions they make each season to protect and increase their harvest.

Farmers can benefit from integrating data from the various equipment they use. We’re working to expand its equipment compatibility and continue to ensure farmers can quickly and easily collect, stream and store machine data in Climate FieldView.
